A birthday card for Nan (my husbands grandmother) - she will be 92 this month and is a very classy lady. I designed it with a couple of challenges in mind. The Allsorts Challenge is to use lace and/or buttons. Searching for buttons brought back fond memories of my own Nana, i have her sewing box and would regularly sort through the buttons in it as a child. When i inherited the box it came with all it's contents, including the buttons. So these were hers - some had clearly been snipped from garments, she lived through the war and was always thrifty. These five mother of pearl buttons are all different and have a beautiful pearlescence. (Unfortunately this doesn't really show up in the photo.) They are sewn on with Avec metallic threads, the sparkle has been added with Papermania adhesive stones. There was no lace in the box, so I used a lace stamp - one of a large collection of stamps -mostly bought in craft kits from QVC over the last 15 years.
